The school system of a small Louisiana town is using a preschool spelling bee to help kids who don’t know how to spell their own names.
The Louisiana State Board of Education says kindergartners are asked to spell words like “meow” and “goose” with a capital letter.
But the board says it has no way of knowing what’s in those words.
So the board is looking for spelling bees.
The state board says there are more than 50 spelling bees in the state.
In this case, a spelling bee is being used by the state to help students learn how to pronounce names.
